Limits of Confidentiality
At Gregory Hills Psychology, we prioritise your privacy and confidentiality. However, there are legal and ethical limitations to confidentiality that we want to make you aware of:
Harm to Self or Others:
If you express intent to harm yourself or others, we are legally and ethically obligated to take necessary steps to ensure safety. This may include informing appropriate authorities or loved ones and coordinating necessary interventions.
Abuse or Neglect:

If there is suspicion or disclosure of abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult, we are required to report this to the appropriate authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the individual(s) involved.
Court Orders or Legal Obligations:
In certain legal situations, such as court orders or subpoenas, we may be required to disclose client information as mandated by law.
Consultation and Supervision:
To ensure the highest standard of care, psychologists may consult with colleagues or supervisors about client cases. However, identifying information is always kept confidential in these consultations.
Insurance or Third-Party Payers:
If you are using insurance or other third-party payment options, limited information about your treatment may be shared with these entities. Please rest assured that outside of these circumstances, your personal information and the content of our sessions will remain strictly confidential.
If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, please don't hesitate to discuss them with your psychologist.
