Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
What is ACT? is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals develop psychological flexibility by accepting their thoughts and feelings and committing to actions that align with their values.
How Does ACT Work?
Acceptance: Learn to acknowledge and accept difficult thoughts, feelings, and sensations without trying to change or control them.
Cognitive Diffusion:
Develop skills to step back from unhelpful thoughts and see them for what they are - just thoughts - rather than as truths or commands. Mindfulness: Cultivate present moment awareness and focus on values-based action.
Values Clarification:
Identify and clarify what truly matters to you in life, guiding your actions and decisions. Committed Action: Take steps towards living a meaningful and values-driven life, even in the presence of discomfort or difficult thoughts and emotions.
